Rainfall Records Set Saturday Across North Texas; DFW Metroplex.

DALLAS – (WBAP/KLIF) – A flood warning is in effect across Dallas county through 4:15 pm Monday.

Record-breaking rainfall across North Texas Saturday caused some power outages, the cancellation of flights, increased traffic crashes, and caused a shutdown of the Fort Worth Main Street Arts Festival. But it’s being followed today by clearing clouds to at least partly sunny conditions, winds gusting to 20 miles an hour from the northeast and warmer temperatures following last night’s cold, wet chill.

Dallas Fort Worth International Airport set a record for rainfall received at 2.34 inches of rain; the prior record was 1.52 inches in a 24-hour period set back in 1942. But many areas of the Metroplex and across North Texas saw up to 4 inches of rain. A flood warning remains in effect through Monday afternoon for all of Dallas County, and drivers are urged to be watchful of flooded areas along roadways and ponding water still in place as well. The highest measured amount of rain was 4.22 inches at Dallas Love Field Airport.
