FORT WORTH, TX – (WBAP/KLIF) – Fort Worth residents can now be fined for leaving too much trash on the curb.

Last September the Fort Wroth city council approved a measure that would fine residents $6 for bins that are overflowing, and $3 for each bag left outside the trash bin. That measure went into effect last Monday (January 1st).

To enforce the new rules each garbage truck will be equipped with special cameras that will document violations.

Each violation will then be forwarded to the city, which will then determine whether to issue the resident a fine. Any fines for excess trash will appear on residents water bills.
