ERCOT Issues Conservation Appeal Thursday

AUSTIN (WBAP/KLIF) – ERCOT has issued a Conservation Appeal Thursday afternoon and evening as temperatures again shoot up to 107 degrees and hotter in portions of North Texas.

This is different language than in the past when the state power grid has asked for a voluntary conservation.

ERCOT said Thursday that they do expect tight grid conditions between the hours of 3:00pm and 10:00pm.

While the power grid is not experiencing conditions as they made the announcement, officials admit there is a high possibility of entering emergency operations this evening.

The request is obviously because of the temperatures but also because of record demand and low wind power.
