Fort Worth ISD Using Billboards in Oklahoma and Louisiana to Recruit Talent

FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF News ) – As Fort Worth ISD, like many North Texas districts, continues to deal with a teacher shortage, officials have taken their recruiting efforts beyond state lines.

Drivers in Oklahoma and Louisiana are seeing digital and print billboards highlighting available positions for first-year teachers that pay up to $69,000.

Fort Worth ISD’s Chief Talent Officer Raul Pena said the district is offering a competitive package.

“We are spreading the word about opportunities available in Fort Worth ISD! With a starting salary ranging from $58,000 to $69,500 including incentives, FWISD vastly out pays many school districts in neighboring states, presenting exciting opportunities for educators looking to relocate,” he said. “It’s just another way we are adapting our strategy to ensure a highly qualified teacher in every classroom.”

The district said it’s also offering hiring bonuses starting at $2,000 for any teacher hires prior to May 1,2022.

Fort Worth ISD is in need of teachers in Bilingual Education, Math, Science and Special Education. In addition to early commitment, the district is offering hiring bonuses across several sectors:

  • $5,000 for Bilingual
  • $3,000 for Special Education
  • $3,000 for Secondary Math, Science or English Language Arts

The district boasts 76,000 students, 144 campuses and 11,000 employees.
