Recovery Continues for Firefighters Injured in Dallas Apartment Explosion

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – Four members from Dallas Fire-Rescue were injured in an apartment explosion at the Highland Hills Apartment Complex in late September. While one of those firefighters was discharged that same day,  three firefighters were hospitalized at Parkland in critical condition.  According to DFR, all three are improving and are in serious but stable condition.

DFR said Wednesday that Captain Christopher Gadomski and Driver Engineer, Ronald W. Hall suffered burns to their lower extremities. Officer Pauline Perez sustained burns. Officer Andrew D. Curtis injured his foot.

“The Department is so grateful to the many doctors, nurses and other staff at the Parkland Emergency Department, BioTel, the Trauma Center and Burn Center for the expert care and compassion shown to our members,” said Dr. Marshal Isaacs, Medical Director, Dallas Fire-Rescue. “It is thanks to them and the strength of these firefighters and their families that they are well on the road to recovery”

DFR said it will continue to provide support services to each member and their families as they navigate the road ahead.

The cause of the explosion is still undetermined.
