The president is catching alot of heat for statements about which states had been hit the hardest.

“We’re doing a great job but if you really want to see a great job. Take New York and some of these other Democratic run states out of it, you’ll see numbers that are unbelievable.”

The comments drew the ire of Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer:

“What kind of person looks a the number of dead citizens in the country he is suppose to lead in an attempt to glamorize himself he dismisses every American who died in a state that didn’t support the president politically. What a disgrace.”

So far the US leads the world in the number of cases and deaths.

And as the nation nears 200,000 deaths from the pandemic, just 39% approve of Trump’s handling of the health crisis.

Americans have more favorable views of public health officials, as has been true throughout the pandemic, while Trump continues to contradict the experts.

Meantime, during his Wisconsin rally, Trump stepped up his rhetoric on cultural issues. In Mosinee, in central Wisconsin, an area of the state that shifted dramatically toward Republicans in 2016.

He called for a statute to ban burning the American flag in protest – a freedom protected by the Supreme Court – and criticized sports players and leagues for allowing demonstrations against racial inequality.
