Two Schools Cancel Classes Due to Large Fire at Waxahachie Recycling Plant

WAXAHACHIE (WBAP/KLIF News) – Classes at Life Middile School Waxahachie and Life High School Waxahachie were canceled Wednesday due to a large fire at a nearby recycling plant.

School officials said the step was taken out of an abundance of caution.

The fire at the Oak Cliff Metals Recycling Plant broke out around 4 a.m.

WBAP listeners said they could see flames and smoke from the tree lines near I-35 near Butcher Road.

Crews from several fire departments were called in to battle the flames.

Fire officials said the blaze now under control with some work still being done to extinguish it.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
