Prosecutors File Motion to Revoke “Affluenza Mom’s” Bond

TARRANT COUNTY (WBAP/KLIF News) – Tarrant County prosecutors filed a motion on Tuesday to have the so-called “affluenza mom” Tonya Couch’s bond revoked after an alleged alcohol violation last week.

Tonya Couch is the mother of Ethan Couch, the 20-year-old who killed four people in a drunk-driving crash in 2013 and was sentenced to probation.

During Ethan’s trial, a witness claimed that then teenager didn’t know right from wrong due to his affluent upbringing.

Two years into his probation, his mother was accused of withdrawing $30,000 from a bank account and illegally taking Ethan to Mexico.

Her official charges include money laundering and hindering the apprehension of a felon. She’s been free on bond since January 2016.

According to the Fort Worth Star Telegram, prosecutors are requesting that she remain in custody until her trial, which is scheduled for October 2.

If convicted, she faces 10 years in prison.
