[VIDEO] Texas Senate Committee Looking Into Mass Shootings Hears From DPS Director

Austin, TX (WBAP/KLIF) – The Texas Senate committee charged with looking in to mass shootings continues its work.

Senator Joan Huffman, chair of the Texas Select Committee on Mass Violence Prevention and Community Safety commented at the outset, that the meeting was back in Austin after two meetings on the road in El Paso and Midland-Odessa for input from two communities impacted by recent mass shootings.

“After hearing from individuals whose lives were so impacted by impacted by the two most recent tragedies, we are resolved in our task to prevent such events from occurring.

The meeting focused on the impact of social media and violent video games on gun violence.

When it comes to technology, Texas DPS Director Steve McCraw said, “We know that criminals and terrorists are always exploiting the news technology you see the cartels using doing ti. If we’re using it, their using it as well.

McCaw said he’s hoping for more cooperation from social media companies in identifying the source of potential threats.
