DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – Police are crediting employees at a KFC restaurant in Azle for rescuing a girl believed to have been kidnapped.

According to the Azle Police Department, Officers responded Tuesday morning to a report of a kidnapping at the KFC restaurant located at 637 Boyd Road in Azle. An employee from the business told Azle 9-1-1 operators that responding officers a teenage girl ran into the restaurant asking for help because she was being held against her will. The teenage girl told employees the man left unattended in a car while he went inside the Cash America Pawn.

Azle Police officers arrested 24-year-old Diamond Marquis Williams of Fort Worth at the Pawn Shop. It’s believed Williams met the girl via Snapchat, a social media application.

After his arrest, Williams was taken to JPS Hospital for treatment of a minor self- inflicted wound and later returned to Azle Police Department for an interview with detectives. The girl was transported to Cook Children’s hospital for medical evaluation and treatment. She was reunited with her family at the hospital.

“It was reported to investigators the victim, who had been taken five days ago from the Fort Worth home she shares with her parents, had not been listed as a runaway because the suspect had forced her to contact her family and tell them she was ok and with friends,” Chief Pippins said.

Diamond Marquis Williams was transported Wednesday to the Tarrant County Jail, charged with Aggravated Kidnapping and Aggravated Sexual Assault of Child, both first Degree Felony offenses.

“Azle Police Department extends our thanks to the employees of Kentucky Fried Chicken, for providing a safe place for the juvenile victim and giving quick accurate suspect information to the 911 operator and responding officers,” Chief Pippins insisted.

Williams’ mother, Rebecca Kendrick told WBAP/KLIF Wednesday that her son is innocent.

“It’s not true,” said Kendrick. “She did not get kidnapped.”

Kendrick insisted the girl ran away from home and was staying with her son. She claimed to have spent time alone with the girl without her son on several occasions.
