DEER PARK (WBAP/KLIF News) – Firefighters are still battling a massive blaze at a petrochemicals terminal in Deer Park, about 20 miles southeast of Houston.
The fire erupted at the Intercontinental Terminals Company Sunday morning when the terminal that stores petrochemical liquids and gases, including fuel and bunker oil, ignited.
Authorities said the flames have spread to eight storage tankers.
In a statement via Twitter, The City of Deer Park said it decided to lift the shelter-in-place order after receiving confirmation that air quality readings conducted no longer exceeded action levels.
However the local school district canceled classes Monday.
So far, no injuries have been reported. Investigators are looking into the cause of the fire.
