UPDATED: Dallas City Councilman Accused of Leaving the Scene of an Accident

UPDATED: 2/15/19 7:13AM

Dallas (WBAP/KLIF) – “There was ‘no collision” — that’s the claim by the lawyer for a Dallas city councilman accused of leaving the scene of an accident.

Attorney Pete Schulte says Councilman Kevin Felder was not involved in an accident, but that he confronted someone on a scooter for “zig-zagging on Malcolm X Boulevard” Wednesday.

Schulte says his client could not get around the boy, “So he rolled down the window and told the guy, ‘Hey, can you get over? you’re blocking the roadway.”

Meantime, several witnesses told police that there was a collision, prompting an investigation. Schulte also says that right front end damage on Felder’s car was from a previous accident last year.

Dallas (WBAP/KLIF) – Dallas City Councilman Kevin Felder so far has ‘no comment’ about his alleged involvement in a scooter accident with a young boy Wednesday afternoon.

Police records and sources say Felder was in a Ford Fusion on Malcolm X Blvd. when he reportedly hit the boy, exchanged words and then drove off.

A witness told WFAA-TV, “The young boy said the Councilman Felder said, ‘Do you know who I am. The woman said, “I waited to see if he was going to get out to check on the boy to see if he was going to check on the boy, and it didn’t happen. He just drove off, I watched him drive away.”

Dallas police say their investigation will proceed as normal and that if charges are warranted they will make an arrest.

During last night’s city council meeting, Felder’s car was examined and eventually hauled from from a city hall parking lot last night. There is right front end damage.

Felder represents District 7 which includes South Dallas and Fair Park.
