North Texas Woman Partially Paralyzed in Freak Accident During Hawaiian Honeymoon

Dallas (WBAP/KLIF) – A GoFundMe campaign has been created for a North Texas woman who was partially paralyzed in a freak accident during her Hawaiian honeymoon earlier this month.

Nikki Lewis (WFAA)

Friends who went to the destination wedding told WFAA-TV that Nikki Lewis was on a boogie-board when a large wave slammed her head-first into the sand, breaking her neck. That accident happened four days after her dream beach wedding.

She’s in good spirits and making some progress in a Hawaiian hospital. Her family is trying to raise money to bring Lewis and her husband back home, and to help pay for her medical bills.

Her friends who made the trip for destination wedding credit a paramedic who happened to be on the vacationing along the beach for quickly stabilizing Lewis’ neck.

According to WFAA, Lewis’ mother is documenting every moment of the fateful tip

From her hospital bed in Honolulu, Nikki Lewis might not know the impact she is having.

Her husband and mother are posting videos of her recovery to Facebook.  In one of them from Sunday of Nikki singing “You are my Sunshine.”
