Teachers’ Union Endorses Mamdani for NYC Mayor

With just over 100 days to go until Election Day, New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani has received his biggest endorsement yet — from the United Federation of Teachers (UFT) union, ABC7 reported on Wednesday.

UFT President Michael Mulgrew lauded Mamdani for his position on affordability and his declared willingness to boost funding for public education in New York, stating that “the voters are saying the same thing, ‘enough is enough.’ The income gap disparity is above that, which we have seen that which we saw during the Gilded Age.”

Mamdani celebrated the endorsement at a news conference with Mulgrew, saying that “when we are looking at [Mayor] Eric Adams’ education record and his policies, I think there are important discussions to be had around literacy, and I look forward to having those discussions not only with policy experts, but also with this union,” CBS News reported.
