DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – A suspect is dead and two Police Officers are hurt after Police say a DART bus was hijacked in Dallas County.
The bus was eventually stopped by Police spike strips on the President George Bush Turnpike after a Police chase and shootout.
According to Garland Police Officer Pedro Barineau, the suspect held the DART bus driver and one passenger at gunpoint while it was being pursued by multiple Police Departments.
“Shots were being fired from inside the bus by the gunman,” Barineau said.
The bus tires eventually blew out on a portion of PGBT in Rowlett.
“The spiking actually disabled the tires of the bus which led the bus to being stopped in the middle of the highway,” Barineau said.
According to Police, A Garland Police Officer and a DART Officer were shot by the suspect but are expected to be okay. The suspect was killed in the shootout.
