Governor Greg Abbott Extends Texas Disaster Declaration

TEXAS (WBAP/KLIF NEWS)- Governor Greg Abbott announced Sunday that Texas’ disaster declaration has been extended additional 30 days in order to continue to combat the spread of COVID-19.

The original declaration was issued March 13th, and was set to expire after one month.

“By extending my Disaster Declaration, we are ensuring the state of Texas continues to have adequate resources and capabilities to support our communities and protect public health,” said Abbott.

The extension allows the state government to continue using resources such as the strategic national stock pile and state operations center.

Governor Abbott is also strongly urging residents to continue following CDC guidelines such as social distancing.
