DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF)- The Dallas County Health and Human Services (DCHHS) confirms its fifth flu related death of the season, an 85 year old resident of Cedar Hill.
Marisa Gonzales with DCHHS says they’ve seen an early increase in flu activity in Dallas this season. “People who have underlying medical conditions pregnant woman and seniors are at a greater risk so we want everybody to protect the community and get their flu vaccine,” said Gonzales.
DCHHS offer free flu vaccines for adults and children at all of its immunization clinics.
DCHHS is also hosting a community event Sunday, Jan. 12th at the Saint Augustine Church in Dallas (1054 North St Augustine Drive) , offering free vaccinations from 10:30a-1:00p. Gonzales said getting the shot and doing things as simple as frequently washing hands with warm water and staying home when you’re sick cuts down on transmission dramatically.
