12 Year Old Boy Struck, Killed by Vehicle in Carrollton

CARROLLTON- WBAP/KLIF – Carrollton Police confirm the death of a 12 year old boy today, struck by a vehicle as he walked with his mother and a younger relative on a South Josey Lane sidewalk this afternoon. Police spokeswoman Jolene DeVito says the driver who struck the child is cooperating, and told arriving police he swerved to avoid hitting another vehicle, jumped the curb and hit the child as he walked on the sidewalk.

DeVito says investigation is underway, but at this point, it does appear the accident was a horrible accident, especially because of the timing; two days before Christmas. DeVito says the mother is at an area hospital and Carrollton Police have ensured Spanish-speaking clergy and officers are there for the mother, who DeVito says does not use English as her first language. No identification of the boy is yet released.
