Fort Worth (WBAP/KLIF) – Fort Worth police were able to prevent a mass shooting from happening, after a father called in and reported his 27-year old son’s behavior.

The department says the man called to say his son was planning a rampage and had recently withdrawn around $700 to purchase guns.

The son however failed a background check and could not purchase them — police say they were able to catch up with him before he could buy one off the street.

He’s now receiving treatment at a mental health clinic — police say they had dealt with him before and he had been diagnosed with mental health problems.
