ARLINGTON (WBAP/KLIF) – The City of Arlington could be the future home of the nation’s ‘Medal of Honor Museum.’
Arlington and Denver, Colorado have been named the top two finalists for the site of the museum. While visiting Arlington Thursday, the project’s CEO, Joe Daniels said the city would be a great fit.
“In order for this museum to have the highest impact as possible on this country, we want it to be in a city that is truly national and that truly represents all of the core values that the medal represents,” Daniels said.
Daniels was also the CEO of the 9/11 memorial project in New York City.
If Arlington is chosen, the museum would be built in the city’s entertainment district near the stadiums for the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers. Daniels believes that the millions of people who flock to Arlington each year would make it a point to visit the museum. He also said the museum would benefit the city itself.
“We believe that people will make a choice to come to Arlington who otherwise wouldn’t come because of this museum,” said Daniels. “And that people who come to Arlington will stay longer because of this museum.”
A decision on where the museum will be built is expected to be announced October 2 in New York City.
