AUSTIN (WBAP/KLIF) – The Texas Rangers will open an investigation into accusations of corruption against the state’s Republican Speaker of the House.
Speaker Dennis Bonnen is accused by conservative activist Michael Quinn Sullivan of offering him media credentials in exchange for campaigning against a group of GOP incumbents in the 2020 primary.

The House Investigations committee voted Monday to have the Texas Rangers investigate the allegations. Republican Rep. Morgan Meyer is the Chair of the committee.
“Any investigation should follow the facts and the evidence without regard to political considerations,” Rep. Meyer said.
Bonnen’s office said that he welcomes the investigation.
