VanGo, a Connecticut-based company, caters to kids ages 8 to 17 and allows drivers to take them to school or other activities.
The company’s CEO Marta Jamrozik said there’s a strict vetting process in place for hiring new drivers and 85 percent are moms.
“Every driver on our team has at least three years of child care experience whether that’s as a nanny, as a babysitter, as a teacher. Everyone is background checked… has a clean motor vehicle record… is finger printed…is reference checked,” she said.
For parents who may be concerned about placing their children in a stranger’s car, VanGo offers patrons GPS tracking of rides and advanced scheduling.
VanGo touts its services as a useful tool for busy parents.
“We really believe that working moms need a support system to help them balance both a career and a family. What we’re trying to do is facilitate relationships within a community that will allow women to help other women,” said Jamrozik.
