DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) – The City of Dallas has a new mayor.
Eric Johnson was sworn as mayor along with several city council members at the Winspear Opera House Monday morning.
Johnson won a runoff election against Dallas city councilman Scott Griggs earlier this month. The former state representative defeated Griggs by getting 55 percent of the vote.
He gave his oath of office in front of a packed audience.
“I, Eric Johnson, do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the duties of the office as mayor of the City of Dallas, Texas,” he said.
Outgoing Dallas Mayor tweeted a message to citizens moments after Johnson was sworn in.
I have loved this city for many decades. But never more than I do today. God bless you. Thank you. -MR
