Dallas City Councilman Cleared by City Ethics Commission Following Complaint

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – Dallas City Councilman Philip Kingston was cleared Tuesday of any ethics violations by the city’s Ethics Commission.

A public complaint filed against Kingston claimed the councilman pushed the city council to allow garage-apartment rentals in the city while he was planning to build an apartment on his garage in East Dallas. Members of the Commission said they couldn’t find Kingston violated the ethics code.

The commission said a councilman is called to represent all constituents, even if that includes neighbors.

Kingston is in the midst of a runoff with David Blewett for the District 14 city council seat.
