GRAND PRAIRIE (WBAP/KLIF)- A Grand Prairie man faces charges after a fiery hit and run crash on I-30 near Loop 12.
Police say 23-year-old Jesus Gutierrez ran after hitting a van with four people in it, the van flipped over and caught on fire. Jason Sloan with Grand Prairie Police says an off duty Arlington Officer, on his way to work, stopped to save them. “He was trying to detain Gutierrez and noticed the van was on fire so went to go and rescue them because their lives were in danger, and then Gutierrez fled the scene,” Sloan said. Gutierrez was later found near Trinity River Authority’s Facility and charged with hit and run, 4 counts for failing to stop and render aid, public intoxication and drug possession. The Passengers in the van range from 17-19 years old. They were treated with non life threatening injuries. Gutierrez bond is set for $135,000.
