Dallas City Council Paves Way for Proposed Salvation Army Facility

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – The future looks bright for a proposed $95 million Salvation Army campus in Northwest Dallas.
The Dallas City Council approved a zoning change to allow for the facility that will be designed to help the city’s homeless population. City Councilman Omar Narvaez said Wednesday that the vote sends a message that Dallas cares about the homeless.

“We are setting a precedent for our city that will probably last the next 25, 30, 40, maybe even 50 years on how start to deal with the crisis that is happening in our city which is called homelessness,” said Narvaez.

The facility will include temporary and permanent housing. It will eventually will replace the Salvation Army’s Carr P. Collins Social Service Center on Harry Hines Boulevard.
