Dallas Police Department Honors Fallen Officers Ahead of National Police Week

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – The Dallas Police department honored the 86 lives lost on duty in the history of the department ahead of National Police Week.
During a ceremony Wednesday with families of officers killed on the job, Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings said it’s important to remember the officer’s who made the ultimate sacrifice.

“The Dallas Police Department is a vital asset to our city,” said Mayor Rawlings. “And we are honored to demonstrate our appreciation for the men and women who risk their lives to make our city a safer place to live.”

Dallas Police Chief Renee Hall asked her department to be inspired by the Officers who came before them.

“We cannot match our fallen comrade’s sacrifices,” said Chief Hall. “But we can match their sense of service and devotion to duty.”

National Police week runs May 12 through 18.
