Highway 75 in Richardson Officially Getting a New Name

AUSTIN (WBAP/KLIF) – A stretch of Highway 75 north of Dallas will soon go by a new name.

A portion of Central Expressway through Richardson will be named after fallen Richardson Police Officer David Sherrard beginning September 1, as announced by Governor Greg Abbott Tuesday.

“I am announcing the David Sherrard Memorial Highway,” said Governor Abbott. “I’m proud to do it.”

Officer Sherrard was shot and killed during a disturbance call last year. He was the first Richardson Police Officer to die in the line of duty. The bill to rename the highway was authored by Rep. Jeff Leach of Plano and passed both the Texas House and Senate.
