IRVING (WBAP/KLIF) – A former Irving elementary school music teacher is facing more charges in a child sex abuse investigation.
Charles Barrera was fired from Lee Britain Elementary School last year after being charged with Indecency with a Child. Now, Barrera is facing similar charges in a separate case involving a 9-year-old.
Police said Friday that the alleged behavior happened during classroom hours while Barrera was still employed by the Irving ISD. It’s believed it could have been happening for several years.
Irving Police are encouraging parents to speak with students about the dangers of inappropriate touching.
“They need to have those difficult conversations with their children to make sure their children haven’t been the victim of a crime,” Officer Robert Reeves said.
Anyone who may have been a victim of inappropriate touching is asked to call Police.
