WEST, Texas (AP) – A dedication ceremony will take place this Saturday to remember those killed in a fertilizer plant explosion. The West Fertilizer Company blast happened six years ago in the small town of about 3,000, just south of Dallas. It took the lives of a dozen emergency personnel and three West residents.
Workers started building the memorial a couple of years ago. It is located in a park near the plant and features a reflecting pool and plaques honoring those who died.
Donations helped cover the cost of the $300,000 project. The City of West Fallen Heroes Memorial Ceremony will begin at 10:00 AM this Saturday in West, Texas.
