Dallas County District Attorney Dismisses Felony Charge Against Victim of Deep Ellum Attack

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) – The Dallas County District Attorney’s Office will not prosecute the felony charge brought against the victim of last month’s Deep Ellum attack.

L’Daijohnique Lee was charged Tuesday by Dallas Police with Criminal Mischief after allegedly breaking a window on the truck belonging to the bartender caught on video repeatedly punching her. Dallas County District Attorney John Creuzot announced Wednesday that his office dismissed the charge.

The alleged attacker, Austin Shuffield, is facing multiple charges in the case.

Activist Melissa Perry said black women don’t feel protected by police.

“We shouldn’t have to go get our concealed handgun licenses and police the city or the streets of Deep Ellum. At this point, we’re tired. We’re sick and tired,” she said.

These activist said it’s the ultimate sign of disrespect.

“We can shut Deep Ellum down and stop spending money there,” said this woman.

“This city is a powder keg about to explode. Get it Dallas…you have a cancer…we see it deal with it,” said this man.

Lee’s attorney called the charges against his client “absurd.” He said he was counting on the District Attorney’s Office to dismiss the charge.
