Medical City McKinney Expanding Emergency Department to Meet Demand

MCKINNEY (WBAP/KLIF)- Medical City McKinney is expanding its emergency department and building a patient tower. “reflective of the rapid growth in the North Texas area, we need to accomodate this type of growth, every year we are seeing more patients so this project will allow us to have state of the art facilities, technologies and further our care and commitment to the improvement of human life,” Brad Stein, Chief Financial Officer of Medical City McKinney said. Stein the  $55 million dollar expansion project will include 11 private emergency treatment rooms , 36 surgical patient rooms and a two-story tower.

“That’s a 50 % increase in the number of treatment areas currently in our emergency department..last year we saw over 40,000 patients and this expansion will allow us to see more patients in a timely manner,” Stein said.

In addition, the Behavioral Health and Inpatient Rehabilitation Pavilion is scheduled to open Spring 2020. The pavilion will include 20 inpatient rehabilitation rooms, 80 adult and geriatric behavioral health patient rooms, and it will relocate services currently provided on the Wysong campus to the main campus.

These major construction projects are part of a major capital investment initiative of more than $1.7 billion spent or committed over five years by Medical City Healthcare, parent company of Medical City McKinney. Investments include expansions and improvements to existing hospitals, upgraded technology and new services.

Construction on the new Medical City McKinney project will begin early 2020.
