LANCASTER (WBAP/KLIF News) – Anyone with warrants out of Lancaster, will want to take advantage of the city’s relief program tomorrow morning.
The Great Warrant Roundup is underway in Texas and starting Saturday, agencies will be ramping up efforts to serve them.
The City of Lancaster’s Jasmine Carr says anyone with a Class-C warrant from the city will have the opportunity to work out an agreement with a judge.
“They’re encouraged to come in with some form of identification, like a drivers license or some state identification, in order to speak with the judge about resolving the case,” she said.
The city is willing to work those who can’t afford to pay the total amount due up front.
“You can also speak with them about payment plans and the judge will assess your ability to pay and offer alternative means to satisfy that judgement. That may be volunteer hours and different plans that make it affordable for you to pay off those warrants,” she said.
Carr said she understands that warrants can be a scary situation but ignoring them will only lead to an arrest, mounting fines and public embarrassment.
“The time is now to resolve those warrants. If not, you may be subject to an arrest…that may be at your home, it may be at your place of business or it may be on the streets at which your car will be impounded,” she said.
