ROWLETT (WBAP/KLIF) – Rowlett Police are using two recent crashes as examples of why drivers should slow down when passing the scene of an accident.
According to Police, two Rowlett PD patrol cars have been hit by drunk drivers in the last two weeks when responding to accidents on Interstate 30.
“If you’re in the lane next to the crash and you can’t move over one lane then you are supposed to slow down,” Sgt. Dean Poos said.
But Poos said laws requiring drivers to slow down or move over don’t stop drunk drivers.
“They aren’t worrying about traffic laws if they are already out there drunk driving,” said Poos. “It’s the nature of the beast.”
No one was seriously hurt in either crash but the cars were heavily damaged. The Rowlett Police Department took to social media Friday to make the public aware of the recent accidents.
