TSA: North Texans Lead the Country in Number of Guns Confiscated from Carry-On Bags at Airports

NORTH TEXAS  (WBAP/KLIF News) – A new report from the Transportation Safety Administration shows North Texans travelers led the nation on the number of guns confiscated from carry-on bags at airports in 2018.

The TSA’s Year in Review report ranks DFW International Airport second in the country with 219 guns taken, 193 loaded, and Dallas Love Field ranked ninth with 89 guns confiscated, 83 were loaded.

People traveling from DFW AIrport Friday morning had mixed reactions about the news.

“It’s scary…it makes you want to take the bus,” said this man.

This passenger said he’ll just watch his surroundings more closely now.

“Truth is, I don’t have a choice…I have to travel and there’s only one airport I travel from,” he said.

Austin’s Bergstrom International Airport came in at number 8 with 93 guns confiscated, 76 loaded.

Atlanta’s Hartsfield Jackson International Airport earned the top spot, with 298 guns confiscated last year, 253 of them were loaded.

4,239 guns were confiscated at airports nationwide last year which amounts to a 7 percent increase since 2017.
