Richardson Police Department Commemorates One Year Anniversary of Officer’s Death

RICHARDSON (WBAP/KLIF) – The Richardson Police Department is commemorating the one year anniversary of the shooting death of Richardson Police Officer David Sherrard. He was the first Richardson Police officer killed in the line of duty.

Officer Sherrard died the night of February 7, 2018. He was shot while responding to a disturbance call.

The Richardson Police Department released a statement on social media:
We honor and remember him as a friend, dedicated husband and father, and a hero to the community. His leadership and sense of humor are dearly missed. We will never forget our fallen Brother in blue. The community can show support by wearing or displaying a blue ribbon in honor of his sacrifice.

Thursday evening at 8:03pm, the department will observe a moment of silence in Officer Sherrard’s honor. Members of the Richardson Police and Fire Departments will activate their emergency lights in his memory. The moment will be streamed LIVE on Facebook.
