Haltom City, TX (WBAP/KLIF) – Police say a suspected drunk driver caused a fiery crash in Haltom City overnight.
It happened around 10:30 last night after officers started chasing someone they say was driving erratically. WFAA-TV reported that the man was driving so fast that he initially eluded police, but he was spotted a second time.
During a second chase the man allegedly crashed into the back of a pick-up truck off of Highways 820 and 377. The truck immediately burst into flames. Officers doused the flames with their fire extinguishers and pulled a woman from the truck. She and the other driver were taken to a hospital.
Officers were able to douse the flames and pull the woman from the truck. the suspect and motorist were taken to a hospital.
Blood tests on the driver were expected to be done at the hospital.
