North Richland Hills K-9 Officer Recovering After Being Shot on Duty

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS (WBAP/KLIF) – The younger of two K-9 Officers for the North Richland Hills Police Department is recovering after being shot on duty Monday night.

Police said Tuesday Koba underwent surgery after being shot while chasing a suspect who fired shots at Police.

“Right now we’re just glad he’s with us,” Sergeant Melissa Andrews said.

The department is hopeful Koba will make a full recovery and is thankful for support from the community after it was learned the K-9 was shot.

“The support our community gives to us is always there,” Andrews added.

The suspect was also shot and was taken to a local hospital.
