Judge Issues Gag Order in Amber Guyger Case

(WFAA)

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – The judge presiding over the Amber Guyger case has issued a gag order to all attorneys involved.

Guyger is the former Dallas police officer accused of killing Botham Jean, an unarmed black man in his apartment, after she claims she mistook his apartment for her own.

Daryl Washington is the Jean family attorney, not taking part in any court proceedings, and says the family wishes they could be there every step of the way.

“They are very anxious right now, not being here in the states, so they want to know what’s going on with the entire process and my job is to keep them abreast,” Washington said.

The judge says she issued the gag order because a potential jury could become prejudiced due to extensive news coverage.
