DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – Americans are being gifted at the gas pump this Holiday season as low gas prices fuel record holiday travel.
The average price for a gallon of regular-grade gasoline in the United Sates has dropped significantly in the past two weeks to $2.43.
“This is really a boom for motorists at the expense of the world producers of oil,” said Industry Analyst Trilby Lundberg.
Lundberg said the longevity of low prices is up in the air.
“If oil prices jump up very quickly from here then we won’t see the affect pass through the pump,” said Lundberg.
Americans are taking advantage of the deals while they can as they hit the road for the holidays. Daniel Armbruster with Triple A says gas prices are contributing to record travel numbers.
“There’s an incentive for people to drive because gas prices continue to drop and no doubt the cheaper gas prices are fueling the decision for people to hit the road for the holidays,” Daniel Armbruster with AAA says.
Economists are urging drivers to enjoy the prices while they last.
