TARRANT COUNTY (WBAP/KLIF News) – As the holiday festivities continue and more people are gathering, Medstar is urging North Texans to take extra precautions as the number of flu like illnesses continues to rises.
The Tarrant County ambulance service’s Matt Zavadksy said in November of 2017, crews responded to 50 cases and this year there were 123.
He’s got some tips for hosts to keep their guests from getting sick.
“Add hand sanitizer to the list of things your going to put out. Have tissues available so if people are going to be sneezing and things so they have a way to prevent those droplets to spread to everyone else at the gathering,” he said.
Medical experts are urging those who haven’t gotten a flu shot to do so because it’s still early in the season.
They also advise that you wash their hands with hot, soapy water, sneeze and cough into your elbow and most importantly…if you’re sick stay home.
“It’s a very easily spread illness. Especially when you’re in close contact with people and things that we’re going to see over the holiday season. So, again it’s very important to follow those precautions,” said Zavadsky.
