Frisco Demands Bird Electric Scooters to Be Removed From the City After Resident Complaints

FRISCO (WBAP/KLIF)- The City of Frisco demands for Bird electronic scooters to be removed from the city by Monday morning.

Frisco Mayor Jeff Chaney said they had no idea the Bird scooter company was deploying 200 scooters in the city. He said the city got several complaints from residents and business owners. “To see them thrown all over streets and in neighborhoods where there not supposed to be and on sidewalks was kind of an eyesore for a lot of our residents,” Chaney said.

He said  he’s not opposed to this transportation option in a few months but would like stricter ordinances on them, where they’ll be dropped off and limit the amount. “They need to be placed in a orderly manner and not obstructing any walk ways or in neighborhoods their not supposed to be in,” Chaney said.

Bird representatives agreed to work with the city to come to a solution. The city urged the company to remove the scooters by 8am Monday or else they will. The city will have another meeting December 18th to further discuss some ordinances with the company. Chaney said the scooters could possibly come back some time in February if they have stricter rules.
