FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF)- Expect to see an increase in parking fines and late fees in the city of Fort Worth starting January 1st. City parking manager Peter Elliot said when reviewing parking codes in Fort Worth, they found they were below the average compared to other major cities in Texas . Staff recommended increasing the fine amount for 10 parking violations. For instance parking in a fire lane, disabled spot or parking a commercial car on a public street will all increase to $200. “Parking a commercial vehicle in a public parking spot was only a $35 fine which was far below other cities, now it’ll be $200,” Elliot said. Elliot said hopefully this will promote safety and to make people more aware of where they park.
