FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF) – TxDOT is preparing for the winter and making sure roads will be safe for drivers. Val Lopez with TxDOT said they’re training employees and says they have special sanding operations to help with traction, as well as a salt and water combination that acts as an anti freeze, for icy bridges. “It’s when we order re order materials and calibrate our equipment and this happens well before winter seasons,” Lopez said. He said they’re hoping for the best and preparing for the worst when it comes to icy roads. TxDOT is on call 24/7 to help drivers stay safe.
.@TxDOTFortWorth is preparing for an icy #winter. Today they showed me a demonstration of how they make roads & bridges less slippery-adding traction with sand/salt or even spraying a combination of salt and water which acts as an anti freeze. @WBAP247NEWS @570KLIF pic.twitter.com/2CcVmSfJP6
