Five Most Recent Dallas Mayors in One Place Discussing the History of Dallas

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF)- Five of Dallas’ most recent mayors were all in one place Friday at the Dallas Friday Group’s 40th Anniversary Luncheon.

Mayor Mike Rawlings, and former Dallas Mayors Tom Leppert, Laura Miller, Ron Kirk and Steve Bartlett answered questions about what they contributed as mayor.

Laura Miller talked about her efforts with the Cowboys Stadium. “Certainly when it came to sports stadiums I had a strong point of view , I did not think we should subsidize the Cowboys stadium to the tune that they had wanted,” Miller said,

She said she would have agreed to have it at Fair Park but said Cowboy’s owner Jerry Jones did not make it work.

Other conversations talked about developments in Dallas and The Trinity River Project years ago.

“It’s an amazing story over the last 20 years, about how people have picked up the baton and kept this going,” Mayor Mike Rawlings said.

Rawlings said, despite overcoming obstacles, each mayor has brought something different and positive to the city.
