Vice President Pence Campaigning in Two High Profile Races in North Texas

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – Vice President Mike Pence visited Dallas Monday to campaign for two republicans in highly contested races on the November ballot.

Pence spoke at a campaign event for Congressman Pete Sessions in Highland Park. Sessions is being challenged by democrat Colin Allred in the race for Congressional District 32. Allred is a former NFL football player who grew up in the district he is running in. Sessions is a 15 year incumbent of the seat.

Recent polls show a tight race between Allred and Sessions. Pence made the trip to generate excitement and support for Sessions.

“We need leaders like Pete Sessions in Washington,” said Vice President Pence. “He took me under his wings when I got to Congress and would be here even if we was uncontested.”

The Vice President said that he made the trip to Dallas to ensure Sessions gets the vote of North Texans in November. He said it’s important to keep up recent momentum.

“It’s been nearly two years of progress,” said the Vice President. “It’s been nearly two years of promises made and promises kept.”

Pence spoke about the Saturday confirmation of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.

“The way Justice Kavanaugh was treated by democrats was just terrible,” said Pence. “But we thank Senators John Cornyn and Ted Cruz for their support and making this happen.”

Following the Sessions event, Pence attended a private event for Senator Ted Cruz who is being contested by democrat Beto O’Rourke. Polls show a close race between Cruz and O’Rourke. Donald Trump Jr. was in Texas last week endorsing Senator Cruz. President Trumps is expected to campaign with Cruz later this month.
