Beto O’Rourke Draws Crowd of Thousands to Town Hall in Richardson

RICHARDSON (WBAP/KLIF) – More than 1,100 people packed an auditorium inside the Richardson Civic Center Tuesday for a town hall meeting hosted by democratic U.S. Senate candidate Beto O’Rourke. Close to 1,000 other people listened to O’Rourke from overflow rooms.

Yard signs, t-shirts, and buttons reading “Beto” flooded the hallways as the El Paso native greeted his supporters.

“I think that change is coming to Texas much quicker than anybody ever envisioned,” said a Beto supporter from Dallas County.

O’Rourke thanked the crowd for their support and encouraged everyone to get out and vote in the November election.

“The is one of the most important elections of our lifetime,” said O’Rourke.

Recent polls show Cruz slightly ahead in the race but O’Rourke has out-raised Cruz in campaign funding by close to $6,000,000. Both candidates have launched television ad campaigns as the race begins to heats up.
