Dallas Steps Up Enforcement of Electric Scooter Ban on Katy Trail in Uptown

DALLAS  (WBAP/KLIF News) – If you’re planning on riding one of those electric scooters on the Katy Trail in Uptown…think again.

They’re banned and violators will not be given a verbal warning any longer.

The electric scooters have actually been banned at city parks and trails since they hit the Dallas market.

The problem was that many people who rode the scooters on banned areas said they were unaware of the policy.

Some in law enforcement said they were unaware of the changes as well but they are working on ways to enforce the code.

The City of Dallas Parks and Recreation put up signs along the trail over the weekend that specify “no motorized vehicles” are allowed.

Anyone caught riding the scooters on the trail could be fined up to $200.
