FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF) – 25 disabled adults are working with Fort-Worth based Lockheed Martin to refurbish parts for F-35 fighter jets.
Expanco, Inc., a non-profit agency that provides vocational services to adults with severe disabilities, signed a contract Friday with the aerospace company to perform aircraft parts cleaning and packaging in support of the F-35 Lightning II fighter jet program.
“They want to work and this gives them the opportunity to make a living and work on this contract,” said Expanco President, David Dodson. “It’s very meaningful to them.”
The employees will clean thousands of parts a month and return them to Lockheed when finished.
“I just love doing it,” said DeMont Stone. “It’s a job I thought I’d never have getting to work on F-35 fighter jets.”
Lockheed Martin and Expanco signed a contract good for three years.
