Fort Worth (WBAP/KLIF) – Nearly four months after being savagely beaten at a Fort Worth bus stop in April, the 13-year old victim has a new heart.
Injuries sustained in the attack left the girl, identified as Dorika Uwimana in need of a transplant.
Her father, Twizere Buhinja told WFAA-TV that “waiting for a transplant takes patience.”
“My daughter was asking me, when are they going to move this … my heart, cause I need new heart.”
A donor became available this week and the transplant surgery was done Monday at Children’s Hospital Dallas.
Buhinja, called the transplant a “gift from God … my daughter is alive.”
He said that since the surgery his daughter in happy and smiling.

The young girl’s alleged attacker, 36-year old Terry King – a trucker – was arrested almost two weeks ago in Oklahoma City.
Fort Worth Police consider the incident, a random attack. Dorika was nearly strangled during the attack, cutting off circulation to her lungs and heart.
The family came to America as refugees from war torn Congo in 2016.
